River Youth is a place where students can know Jesus, build genuine friendships, ask honest questions, and grow in their faith through God’s Word. Whether you’ve grown up in church or are just beginning to explore Christianity, we’d love to meet you.

7:00-8:15 PM in the South Hall at River Church
A weekly gathering focused on biblical teaching, small groups, and building friendships.
Sunday Nights | Depth
6:00-7:15 PM in the South Hall at River Church
A smaller environment where students go deeper into Scripture, ask questions, and learn how to follow Jesus in everyday life.

Meet our Youth Director: Emilio Ortiz
Emilio Ortiz serves as the Youth Director at River Church alongside his wife Shelby. Together they are passionate about helping middle school and high school students know Jesus, love God’s Word, and grow into mature followers of Christ. Emilio and Shelby have years of experience discipling students, leading Bible studies, serving on mission trips, and investing in young people through authentic relationships.

We Teach the Bible
At River Youth we believe the Bible is the Word of God. Every message and discussion begins with Scripture because we believe God’s truth changes lives.
We also help students understand how God’s Word speaks into the real challenges teenagers face today, including:
- friendships
- relationships
- dating
- identity
- purity
- anxiety
- stress
- wisdom
- decision making
- social media
- serving others
- trusting God with the future
- living for Christ at school
Our desire is not simply to help students know more about God, but to know Him personally and follow Him for a lifetime.

Who can come to River Church Youth?
River Youth is open to all middle school and high school students. You do not have to be a member of River Church or have any previous church background to attend.
What does River Church Youth teach?
Everything we teach comes from the Bible. We believe God’s Word is true, trustworthy, and relevant to everyday life. Our teaching helps students understand who Jesus is and how to follow Him in the middle of real-life challenges.
Where does River Church Youth meet?
River Youth meets at River Church, located at 1203 Iowa Street, Norman, Oklahoma, making it an easy option for families throughout Norman.
What age is River Church Youth for?
River Youth is designed for middle school and high school students.
Can my student bring a friend?
Absolutely. Students are encouraged to invite friends anytime. Whether someone has attended church for years or has never opened a Bible, they are welcome here.
What should my student expect on their first visit?
Students can expect a welcoming environment, biblical teaching, small group discussion, and time to build friendships with other students and leaders.
